Impossible: Lalo Schifrin wird 90!

Am 21. Juni feiert Lalo Schifrin Geburtstag. Zeit, dem Großmeister des Action-Soundtrack aus Buenos Aires zu huldigen. Dabei geht es aber nicht nur um seine berühmte und oft kopierte 49-sekündige Titelmelodie zur „Mission: Impossible“-Serie.

Das Multi(track)talent Schifrin wird zu oft auf seine erfolgreichen Hollywood-Hits von „Dirty Harry“ bis „Rush Hour“ reduziert. Aber war da nicht auch noch eine bemerkenswerte Karriere als Jazzpianist (u.a. an der Seite von Dizzy Gillespie) und Orchesterchef? Und was ist mit den sagenumwobenen Elektronik-, Aleatorik- und Serialismus-Experimenten? Das Phänomen Schifrin zu begreifen ist eine Mission Impossible. Wir versuchen es trotzdem.
